La galerie des bijoux shows 1200 pieces of jewelry, offering an exemplary panorama of jewelry history from the Middle Ages to our time. The gallery perfectly embodies the mission of this museum: to open up awareness and enjoyment of its collections to the widest public access possible. L’École also supports the publication of books dedicated to the collections and to the development funds of the Museum in the jewelry domain.

Scientific Research 

Pursuant to the scientific work carried out by the Museum’s researchers, L’École is backing a project to cut replicas, in shape and size, of the 17 most famous diamonds sold by Jean-Baptiste Tavernier to Louis XIV, a sale recorded in the account books of Colbert, Controller General of the Finances of the King.

Research in the Liberal Arts

L’École Van Cleef & Arpels finances for 3 years a Doctoral Thesis within l’Unité de Recherche Histoire et Critique des Arts of the university.
The thesis topic concerns Jean-Baptiste Tavernier (1605-1689), major figure in jewelry history, explorer-merchant, who sourced numerous public and private collections of Europe.

Founded in 1886, l’École Boulle educates its students in the expertise of the artistic crafts and applied arts. L’ÉCOLE Van Cleef & Arpels will provide gemological education for the students in the jewelry department.

As part of its educational mission, L’École Van Cleef & Arpels supports complementary cultural projects.
Goal: to further the intellectual and emotional understanding of the spirit of these exceptional artistic craft and applied art professions, and to make it possible for anyone to personally experience these crafts hands-on.
Therefore, L’École has initiated partnerships which confirm its aim to preserve tradition as well as to foster innovation in technical savoir-faire and in creation.
Five partnerships in France and in Japan fit the fundamental mission of L’École: diffusion of culture, sharing and education.
