Create your own jewel like Jean Vendome

Jean Vendome created some absolutely extraordinary jewelry, unique both in terms of the style and the materials used. Discover his favorite gemstones and create your own jewelry piece, taking inspiration from this modern pioneer.

Participation details : 

  1. Find inspiration in the works exhibited as part of the exhibition Jean Vendome, Artist Jeweler, via our photo gallery, and discover in video Jean Vendome’s life in 150 seconds
  2. Discover the unusual gemstones and materials used by Jean Vendome in his creations thanks to our glossary that you can download here and select your favorites: your jewelry creation should include at least one of the stones and materials listed in this glossary.
  3. Create your own jewelry item: draw, paint, paste, etc. All techniques accepted!

Attention: copies of already existing jewelry pieces will not be accepted.
We want you to use your imagination!

NB: This contest is only for residents of Metropolitan France, including Corsica.

The jury will select 2 winners from each category: 5-8 years, 9-12 years, 13-16 years
The top 10 entries per category will also receive a prize!

The winners will receive:

Category 5-8 years:

  • 1st prize: A beautiful agate so you can begin (or expand) your collection of stones and minerals! You will also receive the french version of the book À la découverte des minéraux et pierres précieuses by François Farges, allowing you to deepen your knowledge of this fascinating universe!
     
  • 2nd prize: a set of two jewelers’ aprons, one for you and another for your parents, so you are properly equipped for your next foray into jewelry design. You will also receive the french version of the book Les Arts Joailliers, Métiers d'Excellence by Guillaume Glorieux (a Découvertes Gallimard special edition), presenting the different professions involved in jewelry-making.  

Category 9-12 years:

  • 1st prize: A beautiful amethyst so you can begin (or expand) your collection of stones and minerals! You will also receive the french version of the book À la découverte des minéraux et pierres précieuses by François Farges, allowing you to deepen your knowledge of this fascinating universe!
     
  • 2nd prize: a set of two jewelers’ aprons, one for you and another for your parents, so you are properly equipped for your next foray into jewelry design. You will also receive the french version of the book Les Arts Joailliers, Métiers d'Excellence by Guillaume Glorieux (a Découvertes Gallimard special edition), presenting the different professions involved in jewelry-making. 

Category 13-16 years

  • 1st prize: A beautiful ammolite so you can begin (or expand) your collection of stones and minerals! You will also receive the french version of the book À la découverte des minéraux et pierres précieuses by François Farges, allowing you to deepen your knowledge of this fascinating universe!
     
  • 2nd prize : a boxset from L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts, containing the birthstone of L’ÉCOLE: an amethyst, a magnifying glass to better study the interior of stones, a notebook for you to write down your observations and lots of other surprises! You will also receive the french version of the book Les Arts Joailliers, Métiers d'Excellence by Guillaume Glorieux (a Découvertes Gallimard special edition), presenting the different professions involved in jewelry-making. 

And the top 10 entries in each category will receive a special certificate from L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts, and a catalog for the exhibition Jean Vendome, Artist Jeweler so you can learn more about this innovative designer!

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PARENTS

Share a unique experience with your child, where creativity, beauty, and originality are key. 

PARTICIPATE : 

  • Complete the online form. The terms and conditions of this contest are available here.
    This contest is only for residents of Metropolitan France, including Corsica.
  • This competition is limited to the first 500 entrants. The 500 participants will receive a confirmation email at the email address specified on their entry form. Once you have received this confirmation, your child can begin creating their jewelry piece.
  • Don’t forget to download the ROCK-PAPER-JEWELS competition glossary to help you while you create. 

LEARN :

  • To help your child find inspiration, have a look at the works presented as part of the exhibition Jean Vendome, Artist Jeweler, which you can discover via our photo gallery 
  • Discover the glossary of unusual gemstones and materials used by Jean Vendome, and select those that inspire you the most: your jewelry creation should include at least one of the stones and materials listed in this glossary.
  • Help your child create their jewelry piece, if needed.

PLAY :

  • Once you and your child have checked the competition guidelines and explored the unique universe of Jean Vendome, it’s time to get creative!
  • This activity can be enjoyed by the whole family, but your child’s imagination and creativity take center stage.
  • The exhibition curator and president of L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts, along with the other members of the jury are then faced with the difficult task of selecting 6 creations: first and second prize will be awarded to the most beautiful, creative and original pieces in each category.
