Fascinating Diamonds 2: Science and Gemology (4h)

Discover why the Diamond is so unique: the miracle of its birth, its totally improbable meeting up with human beings and the five characteristics which determine its supreme hardness.
Handle stones, classify them by colors and assess their clarity, use gemologist's tools, and look at exclusive documents.
About the Course
This course, like all weekday courses (February 12-14, 2025), is only open to students* and job seekers* at the reduced rate of €15. The general public is invited to participate in the weekend courses (February 15-16, 2025), at full price.
*A valid student card or proof of entitlement must be presented.
The teachers will relate the diamond's history, from when it was first polished in the 4th century BCE to the invention of the modern brilliant cut in 1919, which enabled it to express its full brilliance. Discover the secrets of this gemstone: its chemical composition, totally improbable birth, unequaled hardness, the mystery of its brilliance, and its fire. Handle stones, classify them by colors and assess their clarity, use gemologist's tools, and look at exclusive documents.
At L'ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts, several courses are entirely dedicated to the Diamond and in order to give a very panoramic view on this "Stone of Stones".

- You are welcomed by your teacher before the class starts: a chance to meet each other and share experiences.
- All the necessary material will be provided on site.
- A certificate is given at the end of the class.
- The course "Fascinating Diamonds 2: Science and Gemology" includes the knowledge covered and the experiments done during the course "The Diamond: A gemological exception"; it is therefore not recommended for the same person to do both courses.
