About the Course

In the lacquer workshop, surrounded by tools and materials from Japan, create your own lacquered butterfly using three of the lacquer master's ancestral techniques: applying color, Maki-e (gold powder), and mother-of-pearl mosaic. 

After the class, bring your lacquered butterfly home.  

Useful to Know

  • You are welcomed by your lecturers, and a refreshment is offered to you before the class starts.
  • This course is given by two experts, one of whom is a lacquer master.
  • All necessary equipment is provided on site.
  • A certificate is given at the end of the class along with a list of recommendations of books, podcasts, websites, museums related to the course attended.
