A Journey through Cosmic Splendor

In-Person Conversation
@The Morgan Library & Museum, New York

Jewelry from the Collections of Van Cleef & Arpels and beyond

While observation of the sky has provided a vast iconographic lexicon for several centuries, the second half of the 20th century marked a turning point: in the immediate post-war period, a new conception of modernity was forged, based on the technological, scientific, and industrial developments of the time, motivated by the space conquest. It affected many fields of artistic creation including jewelry arts. This lecture invites you to discover the “cosmic jewels” imagined by Van Cleef & Arpels in a context of scientific and creative effervescence: the Space Age.
