Inspired by Dr. Atiq's poem, Emirati Artist Sara Al Khayyal has designed a unique illustration that reflects the profound spirit of Ramadan inspired by the traditional sadu weaving.
Award-winning poet, Dr. Afra Atiq, has created an exclusive poem that beautifully captures the spirit of collaboration and generosity, woven into a delicate narrative and inspired by the "Poetry of Birds" exhibition.
The horizon shifts into a familiar shade of blue
هلال رمضان يهل علينا من بحر السماء
كقصيدة مدونة بالضوء
A feather shaped crescent moon,
The tiniest sliver amongst stars,
Marking time, as it does each year
Collective moments of solace and reflection
Like lanterns filled with light,
Embellished and illuminating brilliance.
The city glimmers
as the edges of evening extend
to glide across the velvet sky like wings
carried by the evening breeze
A reminder that we are pages of belonging
of values and traditions
unfolded through understanding and given
through kindness
Each facet, an expanded constellation of connection
Families and friends alike
share graciously in generosity
عطاء، كرم، جود
ينتقل من يد إلي يد
Each gesture, a delicately woven pattern
Threaded across distances and generations
Line upon line
Like wings and feathers
Weaves and waves of words
Set like stanzas of perfectly painted poetry
Hands and hearts extended to say,
مبارك عليكم الشهر
