Stoned: Jewelry, Obsession, and How Desire Shapes The World (Reading Session)

© Van Cleef & Arpels - 2024 - Chez Voltaire

In this book, we delve into how eight jewels shaped the course of history and what makes a stone a jewel?

L’ÉCOLE invites you to discover the stories behind the world of gemstones through live reading sessions with our experts.

For this session, Noura Alserkal, an interdisciplinary artist, jeweler and lecturer at L'ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts, will read an excerpt from Aja Raden's Stoned: Jewelry, Obsession, and How Desire Shapes the World.

During the session, she will explore how gems, particularly emeralds, have shaped history and human desire, bringing her unique perspective as a contemporary jeweler.

For those who wish to go further, featured titles are also available at the L’ÉCOLE Library Corner at Al Safa Art & Design Library.

Reading Session:
Thursday, April 23rd
From 12 p.m. - 12:30 p.m. (U.A.E time) in English
