In the history of jewelry, a green gemstone has fascinated humankind. Since its discovery more than four thousand years ago, the emerald has kept bewitching humans by the splendor of its color. As part of the large family of Beryls that contain famous aquamarine, the blue variety, or heliodor, yellow beryl, emerald bears specific physical and optical properties. From the mythical mines of Cleopatra to today’s Colombian landscapes, come and discover the legends that surround emeralds and have given them a prominent place in antique and modern jewels

Olivier Segura, A man of passion, Olivier Segura only came across the world of jewelry after a few years devoted to advertising and communication. On completing his initial training, scientific studies in biology and geology with a diploma in gemology, he moved to Bangkok where he created his gem trading company. Thanks to this, he discovered the fascinating world of jewelry and craftsmanship. Returning to Paris to take over the management of the LFG (French Gemological Laboratory), a position he held for ten years, he joined L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts’ Scientific Council. In 2018, Olivier Segura took the plunge and joined the institution as Scientific Director. He has been responsible for new courses, such as “Pearl: History, Science and Legends”, exhibitions, such as “Garden of Emeralds” which will be unveiled at the opening of the new Dubai campus, and several books, the latest to date, “Precious Gemstones”, written jointly with François Farges, Professor at the National Museum of Natural History in Paris.

Tania Heikal is a dedicated professional with expertise in Jewellery & Gemstones. She has several years of progressive experience and education in the industry, acquired with the leading name in the gemology industry GIA (Gemmological Institute of America) and L’Ecole Van Cleef & Arpels. Aside from her active content creation on her instagram blog “Glowynotshowy”, she also leads Luxury Brands in the jewellery industry to build their clientele and supports emerging jewellery designers redefine their marketing and branding approach to reach a wider audience.

NEW EXHIBITION “GARDEN OF EMERALDS”

From November 23rd, 2023 to March 10th, 2024

Tuesday to Sunday, from 11am to 8pm

Each year, L’ÉCOLE Middle East will host free temporary exhibitions, as part of its aim to spread the world of jewelry to as many people as possible. The inaugural exhibition dedicated to the emerald, “Garden of Emeralds”, will reveal the many secrets and mysteries of this gemstone to the public.
