The Maison was founded in 1858 through the union of Félix Mellerio (1831-1905), a member of a renowned family of jewelers, on the rue de la Paix, and Emilie-Marie Borgnis (1836-1906), the heiress of a jewelry establishment with roots dating back to the 17th century. The Maison Mellerio-Borgnis flourished under Félix's leadership until 1899. Following his path, his son Dominique, who became a partner in 1884, took the helm. In 1890, the Maison gained membership in the Chambre Syndicale as a “merchant and commission agent.” The jewelry pieces were crafted by Alphonse Auger (1837-1904), Maison’s exclusive manufacturer.
