6. Maison Boucheron

Boucheron carved out his legacy over 160 years ago, with the figure of Frederic Boucheron. It all began with the opening of his first shop in the Palais Royal, Paris. 

Collaborating with many independent designers, Frederic Boucheron was one of the first to disclose their names at world fairs and commercial events. One of his revolutionary creations, the avant-garde Question Mark necklace introduced in 1879, transformed the way jewelry was worn. With its asymmetrical design and lack of a clasp, it freed jewelry from its traditional constraints, making Boucheron the go-to jeweler for modern design. 

In 1893, Boucheron made history as the first contemporary jeweler to establish a boutique on the illustrious Place Vendôme.
