Lacloche LIVE - square KV

Rediscover a luminous star in the Parisian jewelry firmament

Revered between the Belle Époque and the 1960s, the Maison Lacloche attracted a vast, prestigious, and international clientele. Its delicacy and poetry dazzled many eyes in the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris, and later across both sides of the Atlantic among European royals and Hollywood stars, with its stunning jeweled renditions standing at the forefront of the Art Deco movement. Once a summit of high jewelry from France, and yet, its name has long since faded into oblivion.

Bringing together over 40 Lacloche pieces of jewelry, cases, compacts, and precious clocks from around the world, this retrospective exhibition by L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts supported by Van Cleef & Arpels – the fruit of dedicated research and a book written by the curator Laurence Mouillefarine – is the first-ever monograph to retrace the fascinating yet troubled history of the Parisian jewelry house. Premiered in Paris and traveled to Hong Kong with newly selected creations, this exhibition illustrates the Maison’s technical prowess and impeccable taste, whose luster shines as bright today as it did in the past.

Conversation "The Saga of Lacloche Jewelers"

Have you ever heard of Lacloche Frères? This family business, founded in 1892 and established since 1901 on rue de la Paix, in the heart of the Parisian jewelers' district, enjoyed dazzling success until the early 1930s, when it suddenly disappeared. Relaunched by Jacques Lacloche in 1936, it closed permanently in 1967. Forgotten by the general public, but not by collectors, come and discover what made the success of this great Parisian jewelry Maison, as well as the reasons for its fall. A story to be rediscovered without moderation!

This online talk was broadcasted live from the “Lacloche Jewelers” exhibition at L’ÉCOLE Asia-Pacific in Hong Kong.

With Nicolas Luchsinger, President of Van Cleef & Arpels Asia Pacific, Director of the « Heritage » collection & Mathilde Rondouin, Art Historian and Teacher from L'ÉCOLE Asia Pacific.
