About the Cycle
More than 100 years ago, Art Deco jewelry emerged, at the crossroads of social, cultural and artistic movements of the era. Stroll through the aisles of the Jewelry, Elegance, and Pearls and Precious Stones Pavilions at the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts held in Paris. Discover the central role that jewelers, goldsmiths, and designers played in the emergence of this modern style, which continues to inspire contemporary design and jewelry.
This cycle offers a series of three courses to help you discover the different facets of the Art Deco style, all punctuated by the observation of Art Deco jewelry from the Cabinet of L'ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts and gouachés of exceptional quality:
- A Change of Era: A journey to the origins of Art Deco and an exploration through the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts.
- Art and Material: A look back at the innovative materials used, the evolution of techniques and craftsmanship newly invented or refined.
- A New Aesthetic: An analysis of the movement's diverse sources of inspiration, balancing a drive towards the future and a constant reinterpretation of the past.
