Foreword
L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts has made it its mission to share the jewelry culture with the widest possible audience.
Founded in 2012 with the support of Van Cleef & Arpels, L’ÉCOLE offers an exclusive program of classes, structured around three main pillars: craftsmanship, the history of jewelry, and the world of gemstones.
L’ÉCOLE also organizes talks and exhibitions, as well as publishing works.
Visiting L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts
Article 1: Application of the regulations
The present regulations apply to all visitors to L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts, whether individual visitors or as part of a group, including:
- Students taking classes
- Guided tours
- Attendees of a private corporate event
- External service providers
Article 2: Access to spaces open to the public
Our different spaces are open at the following times:
- Classes: from 8.30am to 6.30pm, from Monday to Saturday, depending on availability
- Exhibitions: from 11am to 7pm, from Tuesday to Sunday, and Thursdays from 11am to 9pm
- Grande Escarboucle (bookshop): from 11am to 7pm, from Tuesday to Saturday
- Library: from 10am to 6pm, from Tuesday to Friday, by appointment only
Access to the establishment requires proof of entry in the form of:
- A ticket or booking QR code for the exhibition or library
- An invitation to a class at the corresponding time and date
- A temporary badge issued by L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts
Article 3: General booking conditions
Bookings are necessary to access the establishment. Bookings can be done via L’ÉCOLE’s website, generating a confirmation by email. All our exhibitions are free of charge.
Article 4: Objects to be put in storage
Oversized or large objects are not allowed in the exhibition spaces. Visitors must leave these in lockers, located in the reception area. These include:
- Motorbike and bicycle helmets
- Oversized bags
- Objects that cannot be stored in the lockers include:
- Scooters
- Suitcases
- Umbrellas
- Musical instruments
Students can keep their personal belongings with them in the classroom, except for large objects.
The lockers are operated by a key. When visitors place their personal belongings inside, they are responsible for the key and obliged to return this to reception before leaving. Anything placed in a locker must be removed before the establishment closes at the end of the day.
L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts cannot be held liable in the event of any stored items reported damaged or missing.
Article 5: Accessibility
Visitors with disabilities, in particular people with reduced mobility, may use the elevator to access the first floor of the establishment.
Strollers and prams are permitted except for large ones that could hinder circulation in the event of an emergency evacuation.
Photographs, recordings & copies
Article 6: Flash photography
The use of flash photography is strictly forbidden when it comes to photographing the works on display in order to guarantee their proper conservation.
Article 7: Installations and equipment
It is not permitted to film, photograph, or record the screens and digital equipment used in the classrooms for copyright and confidentiality reasons.
Article 8: Recordings and broadcasts
Professional photography and the recording of films or videos intended to be posted online for commercial or non-commercial purposes, are subject to prior written authorization from the management of L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts. A technical sheet outlining the format used and purpose of the photograph(s)/recording(s) must be submitted.
Safety and security of the building, property, and personnel
Article 9: Visitors’ behavior
Visitors are asked to:
- Respect the security rules around the works and recommended visiting conditions
The following are prohibited:
- No smoking in the courtyard and establishment premises
- Do not disturb other residents and neighbors by making noise in the courtyard
- Do not bring dangerous objects into the establishment (arms, flammable substances)
- Do not touch the artworks or examine them too closely with a magnifying glass or binoculars in the exhibition spaces
- No leaning against the display cases and pedestals
- No eating and drinking in the exhibition spaces
- No throwing papers, waste, or chewing gum on the ground
- Do not obstruct the circulation of other visitors in the corridors and stairwells
Telephone conversations and the use of sound devices should not disturb other visitors.
The use of the restrooms is reserved for exhibition visitors only.
Article 10: Video surveillance
A video surveillance system under the responsibility of the head of the security department is installed in the various spaces that are open to the public, in order to ensure the safety of visitors and the property. This installation is used in accordance with the regulations in force and is governed by a prefectural authorization (Article 10 of Law No. 95-73 of January 21,1995 and its implementing decree No. 96 926 of October 17,1996 amended by Law No. 2011-267 of March 14, 2011, and by Decree No. 2012-112 of January 27, 2012).
Article 11: Inspection of bags
Security personnel may ask visitors to open their bags and belongings to inspect them before allowing them access to L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts. They may also ask to see ID.
Article 12: Circulation
Access to and through the public spaces is free of charge.
Groups must respect the indicated route to ensure the comfort of all visitors using the space.
Article 13: Emergency management
In the event of a fire or serious incident, visitors must remain calm at all times.
The incident should be reported immediately verbally to the front desk and an invigilator or to the Control and Security Station.
In the event of evacuation or confinement, visitors are required to fully comply with the instructions of the establishment’s personnel. If evacuation of the building is necessary, it must be carried out in an orderly and disciplined manner under the supervision of L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts staff.
Article 14: Accidents and first aid
In the event of an accident or illness, this must be reported to the security officer at the Control Station, located at the entrance to the building. If among the visitors, a doctor, nurse, or first-aider intervenes, they are asked to stay with the sick or injured person until they are evacuated. They will be asked to leave their name and address with a security agent on-site at the time of the incident.
Groups and guided tours
Article 15: Groups
Groups must book a time prior to their visit on the website by reserving tickets for each visitor or by emailing reception. The number of people in a group cannot exceed 20 persons.
Article 16: Guided tours
In order to participate in the guided tours organized by L’ÉCOLE, visitors will be asked to wear the headphones provided by staff after checking their ticket for the guided tour.
Respecting visiting regulations
Article 17: Application
In the interests of all, visitors should take into account the present recommendations and comply with the instructions communicated to them by the establishment’s staff.
The reception staff and invigilators are responsible for ensuring that these regulations are correctly applied and respected.
Article 18: Possible sanctions
Failure to comply with the requirements of these regulations may result in offenders being denied access or expelled from the premises, and in certain cases, may lead to legal proceedings.
Article 19: Visibility
The present visiting regulations may be accessed by the public on L’ÉCOLE’s website and are also displayed at the entrance to the premises.
