Lise Macdonald is a graduate in Museology at the Ecole du Louvre in Paris, with a specialization in Old European Master Paintings and Museum Studies. She is also a graduate in Philosophy, with a specialization in Philosophy of Arts. She joined Van Cleef & Arpels in August 2017, after spending seven years at ArtScience Museum, in Singapore as Associate Director of Exhibitions.
Previously, she worked for the UNESCO Sector of Culture in Paris as Assistant Programme Specialist in the Section of Museums, Unit for Africa and the Arab States. At Van Cleef & Arpels, Lise Macdonald’s role was to manage the Heritage Department, which included four teams respectively dedicated to the Van Cleef & Arpels Collection, Exhibitions and Archives. She oversaw the conservation, expansion and study of the Maison’s historical collection as well as their study and diffusion through publications and patrimonial exhibitions.
Starting from April 2023, Lise Macdonald will become the new President of L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts, succeeding to Marie Vallanet-Delhom who managed this one-of-a-kind institution since its creation in 2012.
Founded on Place Vendôme in Paris with the support of Van Cleef & Arpels, L’ÉCOLE is the first school in the world to open the world of jewelry arts to the general public. In addition to courses, talks and exhibitions held throughout the year at its two permanent campuses in Paris and Hong Kong, special programs are held in major international cities such as Tokyo, New York, and Dubai, expanding the scope of learning to a worldwide scale. L’ÉCOLE also supports research in a variety of ways through exhibitions, publications, partnerships with museums and other academic institutions, online educational videos, and a library specialized in jewelry arts.
