In 2023, the 10th anniversary of the opening of the first school in Japan, L’ÉCOLE returns to Tokyo once more.

We are pleased to announce that L’ÉCOLE Special Japanese Program will be offered at the Gaien campus of Kyoto University of the Arts for two weeks from February 24 to March 10, 2023.
The programs offered are all in line with those at the main school in Paris, with courses and talks led teachers and artisans who are experts in their fields.
A total of 18 different courses, including four new courses, will be offered this year in the areas of “Art History of Jewelry” (7 courses), “The World of Gemstones” (5 courses), and “Savoir-Faire» (6 courses). In addition, there will be five “Workshops for Young People”, as well as “Evening Conversations”—interactive talks on four jewelryrelated topics.

Like the previous session in 2019, the venue interior will be designed by leading Japanese architect Sosuke Fujimoto.
All the furniture and decorations that create the refined spaces that embody L’ÉCOLE’s philosophy will be made from renewable wood for new uses, in line with Van Cleef & Arpels’ commitment to sustainable practices.

Exhibition "Birds in Paradise"

During this special series of courses, the exhibition “Birds in Paradise”, which was held in 2019 at L’ÉCOLE’s main school in Paris to great acclaim, will be curated from a new perspective and presented in Japan as a special exhibition, Gokurakucho.
The exhibition will be held from January 20 to May 7, 2023 at the INTERMEDIATHEQUE (IMT) in Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, and is co-sponsored by the University of Tokyo's Museum of Integrated Arts and Sciences and L’ÉCOLE.
The exhibition will combine approximately 100 pieces of jewelry featuring bird motifs with bird specimens, scientific materials, and works of art, and will attempt to foster a “dialog” across the fields of jewelry, natural history, and decorative arts, taking a scientific and artistic perspective on birds.
