Factories and uses of small precious objects in the Age of Enlightenment
Have you ever visited the Cognacq-Jay museum, nestled in the heart of the Marais district in Paris?
The current exhibition, “Luxe de Poche - Small Precious Objects in the Age of Enlightenment”, brings together nearly three hundred of these objects, paintings, textiles, etc. that symbolized elegance in the 18th century. The works are presented in the context of their uses, exploring the refined rituals of the daily lives of the elites of the Enlightenment Age. The preciousness of materials, the inventiveness of mechanisms and technical ingenuity testify of the excellence of fine crafts and continue to inspire the goldsmiths of the twentieth century.
As part of this exhibition, which runs until November 24, 2024, the Cognacq-Jay museum and L'ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts invite you to marvel at, learn and discover the factories and uses of these small enchanting objects during a discussion with Sixtine de Saint Léger, Conservation attachée and curator of the exhibition and Paul Paradis, Art Historian, specialized in Decorative Arts and Lecturer at L'ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts.
