L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts at the Festival of Art History

From June 6 to 8, 2025, L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts is renewing its participation in the Festival of Art History in Fontainebleau, the annual event to discover the richness and dynamism of art history.

The National Institute for Art History (INHA) and the Château de Fontainebleau, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, invite you to the 14th edition of the Festival of Art History, taking place on June 6, 7, and 8, 2025.

This edition, themed "True, Fake", with Austria as the guest country, offers a wide variety of events: talks, debates, book presentations, performances, film screenings, guided and self-guided tours, family activities, and the eloquence competition "My Thesis in 180 Seconds."

With over 250 events, the festival provides a unique opportunity for encounters in the exceptional setting of the Château de Fontainebleau, free and open to the public, supported by numerous national and local partners. It is also an important moment for international exchanges between art historians and heritage professionals.

Faithful to its mission of sharing jewelry culture with as many people as possible, L'ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts is pleased to participate again this year in the program of this festival, which encourages cultural openness. L’ÉCOLE will once again be present in the Festival book and art journal fair, will host two meetings around two of its recent publications – related to the themes of the festival – and a conversation on the mysterious affair of the necklace.

Free and open to all, the Festival of Art History is a public event.

The program of L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts in preview of the festival: the concert of the Chaos String Quartet at the Hôtel de Mercy-Argenteau

Monday, May 12th at 6:30 p.m.

In partnership with the Austrian Cultural Forum

As part of the preview program for the Festival of Art History, L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts will present a classical music concert at the Hôtel de Mercy-Argenteau.

The four musicians of the Chaos String Quartet, an ensemble founded in Vienna in 2019, will perform four pieces. The composers chosen for the occasion, while coming from different backgrounds, all share a Viennese career, with Ludwig van Beethoven even being a student of Joseph Haydn in Vienna. Like Christoph Willibald Gluck, Josef Matthias Hauer is one of the innovators who also made their mark in the history of music.

In the residence of the Count of Mercy-Argenteau, this music resonates with the history of the place. This friend of the arts and letters, beyond his function with Queen Marie Antoinette, undoubtedly had some of these composers, Gluck and Haydn in particular, play within these walls more than once. The Chaos String Quartet will thus revive a bit of the spirit of a place.

Concert program:

Christoph Willibald Gluck : "Reigen seliger Geister" (from the opera "Orpheus and Euridice") arrangement by Chaos String Quartet
Joseph Haydn op. 20/3 : "String quartet in G minor"
Ludwig van Beethoven op. 18/2 : "String quartet in G major"
Josef Matthias Hauer : "Zwölftonspiel"
