Introduction to Setting (2h)

From the Wax Project to the Setting Techniques

Try your hand at stone setting.

About the Course

Setting is one of the most important steps in jewelry making. It secures and fixes the gems on the metallic pieces of the jewel.

After an introduction to the different types of settings, learn how to create a setting on brass step by step. While seated at the jeweler’s workbench, tools in hand, experiment with the technical skills of a stone-setter: adapt the shape of the piece, position the stones, and adjust their placement and symmetry. Finally, polish your piece and discover one of the most essential gestures to the setter, consisting of "lifting the grain" in a piece of metal.

This course is devoted to setting. Discover the setting techniques but also the wax sculpting by joining the four-hour course: "From the Wax Project to the Setting Techniques".
