Overview

Nestled in the heart of the Latin Quarter, the Musée de Minéralogie of the École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris is home to nearly 100,000 mineral, rock, meteorite and gem specimens that comprise one of the world's largest national mineralogy collections.

This "inventory of the Earth," under way since 1794 for scientific, educational and industrial purposes, is presented to visitors in a magnificent setting featuring wood display cabinets that have remained intact since the 19th century. The museum's rich assembly of remarkable, fascinating and beautiful samples invites us to travel through geological time, and to journey through the history of humankind and our complex relationship with the inestimable treasures that nature offers us.
