The Lapidary’s Art 1 - Discovery: History and Techniques (4h)
Discover the history of stone cutting and carry out the work of a stone cutter.
About the Course
In this first course, discover the history, geography, vocabulary and tools involved in cutting colored stones.
Understand how stone cutters observe a rough stone to decide the best way to cut it, in order to obtain the most beautiful color, while preserving the maximum weight. Afterwards, proceed to the first stages of cutting named preforming (or roughing) and then practice with the facet cutter to familiarize yourself with the lapidary's gestures.
After the class, bring your preformed stone home.
A second course is devoted to the lapidary’s art to apply the skills you discovered in the first course and to facet your own stone: "The Lapidary's Art 2 - Initiation: Cutting a Colored Stone". It is highly recommended to have attended the first course to access the second.

- This course is given by a lapidary and a gemologist.
- All necessary equipment is provided on site.
