Pearls: History, Science and Legends

Embark on a journey into the pearl, a gem born from a living organism as famous as it is mysterious, a rare and precious witness to humanity’s first steps. 

Between natural and cultured pearls, freshwater and sea pearls, learn the secrets of their origins and formation. A world tour of the pearl to introduce you to all the different types of pearls. 

During four hours, at the crossroads of history and gemology, stimulate your senses by handling pearls of different origins, shapes and sizes, and feel their awe-inspiring power. Take part in a playful experiment to classify a pearl using different criteria. 

• You are welcomed by your lecturers before the class starts.
• A welcome refreshment is offered prior to the class and during the break.
• This course is given by a gemologist and an art historian.
• All necessary equipment is provided on site. 
• A certificate is given at the end of the class along with a list of recommendations of books, podcasts, websites, museums related to the course attended.
