The culmination of exhaustive research carried out over 17 years by Remi Verlet, this work published by L’ÉCOLE is a reference book for professionals and connoisseurs of gold and silverware and jewelry: a Dictionary of Jewelers, Goldsmiths and Silversmiths in France, from 1850 to today. This publication comprises two volumes: a dictionary and a directory.

The dictionary contains around 40,000 entries on jewelers, goldsmiths, silversmiths, gilders, chasers, setters, designers, etc., along with a description of 25,000 maker's marks, 9,000 of which are reproduced in the form of stylistically rendered drawings. The second volume is an index that enables readers to find the artisans presented in the first volume based on a description of their mark.
