Necks is a work of visual poetry that Daniel Brush refers to as the "dreams of a jeweler," a lyrical anthology of pieces that could be deemed a work of art in itself. He dreamed up a sizable collection of extremely diverse chokers that would make up a single piece. And each of these chokers would play a role in the book, a narrative unfolding from page to page.
He feverishly set about his work, choosing steel again. He engraved the metal, sometimes using the wavy line technique employed in his previous pieces, mimicking the moiré effect of a black silk ribbon. Some designs are lyrical, others are geometric. Some are decorated with long pendants set with precious stones or pearls, while others are even bulkier with aluminum sculptures that catch the light.
