Identify gemstones using gemologist’s instruments.
About the Course
Transported into the great precious stone markets — Chanthaburi in Thailand, Ratnapura in Sri Lanka or Bogota in Colombia— discover how to distinguish a group of different gemstones, guided by two gemologists.
Divided into teams, conduct the investigation around a colored stone of your choice. First, learn to observe stones with your naked eye, and then to handle the gemologists' identification instruments (refractometer, spectroscope, dichroscope...), to refine your investigation.
Finally, by the end of the course, you are able to identify the stone you have selected.
Useful to Know
- You are welcomed by your lecturers before the class starts.
- A welcome refreshment is offered prior to the class and during the break.
- This course is given by two gemologists.
- All necessary equipment is provided on site.
- A certificate is given at the end of the class along with a list of recommendations of books, podcasts, websites, museums related to the course attended.
