We are all familiar with pearls. Sought-after since ancient times, they still inspire the great modern jewelers. But how many people know that they were at the heart of an intense trade between the Gulf and France from the late 19th to the mid-20th century? How many remember that they were at the center of the luxury industry and Parisian culture for decades?
Organized by L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts, the exhibition Paris, City of Pearls, from November 21st, 2024 until June 1st, 2025, recounts the forgotten history of this amazing artistic, commercial and human adventure.

L’ÉCOLE at the Festival of Art History
From June 6 to 8, 2025, L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts is pleased to participate in the Festival of Art History in Fontainebleau. On the agenda: two meetings around recent publications and a conversation on the mysterious affair of the necklace. Free and open to all.

Art Deco 1925 - 2025
Held in Paris from April to November 1925, the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts celebrated the height of the "modern style," later called Art Deco.
Van Cleef & Arpels' creations exhibited at this event awarded a Grand Prix. Find on the website of the Van Cleef & Arpels Collection catalog those belonging today to its heritage collection, as well as a text in the scientific corpus entitled: "Art Deco, Polymorphism and Stylistic Development within the Jewelry Arts".
